It’s moments and memories like these {Day 1}

Remember when I wrote the post, will they remember? It’s moments and memories like we had on Sunday that I hope they hold onto forever. We took them to the park on Sunday. It was a beautiful day, the temperature was perfect, the sky was a beautiful shade of blue with a few soft clouds here and there. There is a paved trail that goes through trees, over a creek and open fields. It connects to about four or five different parks. We brought the boys bikes along with us. They don’t get to ride them very often because we sadly don’t have sidewalks in our neighborhood and we don’t feel comfortable letting them ride on the road.

First, we let them ride their bikes. The concentration on Jay’s face was priceless and kage wasn’t too happy that I wouldn’t push him, I was making him pedal, but when we got to the section where there is a small decline, their faces lit up as they glided down the trail. Afterwards we stopped at one of the parks. They jumped off their bikes and took off running. Their laughter filled the air, Hubby and I looked at each other and smiled, we were all filled with love, fun and happiness.

They pretended to be pirates and eventually cowboys. They chased each other all over the park and daddy joined in on the fun. I sat for awhile, watching the three of them, capturing the moments with my camera and I couldn’t help but think of how incredibly blessed I am.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // It's moments and memories like these

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // It's moments and memories like these

I hope they remember how daddy gave them a head start before trying to catch them. I hope they remember the laughter that filled the air when he did finally catch them. I hope they remember how even though I knew it was going to hurt, when they asked me to catch them, I joined in for one round of chase.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // It's moments and memories like these

More than anything, I hope they remember how loved they are and how much laughter filled the air that afternoon.

31 days of Intentional blogging

about

Keep up with all the 31 day posts by clicking on the button above! :) or see below where I will update the list with each day as I post them.

I didn’t plan on writing this last minute post. Especially when I have a post that is scheduled to go live in an hour, but I was thinking about joining the 31 days linkup that The Nester has every year in October. I had tons of topics fly through my head. 31 days of photography. 31 days of motherhood. 31 days of crafts. You name it, I thought it. Instead, I wanted to expand on one of my September goals I had made. That goal was to be intentional with blogging and I found that while every post wasn’t what I had planned for being intentional, I tried to stick with it. Now, I want to take it further.

I want every post I write here, to be on purpose. I want to push myself in creativity and writing. I want to make sure there is always beautiful pictures to go with my posts because, I love photography. I want to intentionally make connections with other bloggers and you my readers. I want the words I write to mean something to me, to my family and to those reading. I want to find that passion I had for blogging when I first started. I also want to share tips I’ve learned along the way about intentional blogging!

So, for the 31 days, I’m challenging myself to be intentional in all areas of my blog life. I know that might sound crazy, but the thing is, I like where my “offline” life is and while I could pursue other areas, such as doing more crafts. Those are things I will do anyway and probably blog about them if I feel it is something I truly love. I just want everything I share on here for the next 31 days {and beyond} to be intentional, to be something i love and want to share and I want that to show in my words and my pictures. Because this 31 days is going to be re-discovering how I write, what I want to write about and most of all who I want to be writing for.

I would love for you to join me, along with The Nester and tons of other bloggers in this amazing, challenging linkup!

Life Lately

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Life Lately

Life lately has had it’s good and bad moments. The week normally seems to fly on by until Thursday and then time moves so.freaking.slow. I know why, it’s because I want it to be Friday. By Friday, I am more than ready for the weekend, especially since we have been making it our mission to have some kind of fun every weekend. I really love that we are sticking with that goal. Jay is doing amazing in school, I still can’t get over the fact that he can read now. It’s definitely a bittersweet moment. Kage has finally taken to playing video games, I have never made him, but Jay is always asking Kage to play with him and Kage would always tell him, “I’m too little.” Well, Sunday, Kage started playing and Jay is ridiculously happy about that.

I went to my new doctor on Thursday. He is really great and I think he is going to be doing everything in my power to fix my back because, the pain has come back full force. I go in, in a couple of weeks for a stronger round of injections in my back. Say a prayer it works. I have been in a major decorating mood lately, probably because I can’t do much else without it hurting. On the plus side, it’s doing wonders for my house. ;)

On Saturday we had a pretty lazy day. We took naps and pretty much just relaxed all weekend. On Sunday, I spent some time reading my bible and I came across a verse that I shared on Instagram, “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” — Proverbs 3:3 I would love for you to share with me your favorite verse in the comments below. We also took the boys to the park and let them ride their bikes and spent the rest of the evening playing and catching up on cleaning the house.

Weekly Recap and A little fall decor

Happy Saturday. I know I normally don’t post on the weekends, but it’s nice to break the rules you set for yourself every now and again, don’t you agree? ;) This week went by pretty fast and I am so, so, SO happy that it is the weekend. We haven’t planned anything yet, which I’m okay with because I love spontaneous family plans anyway. What do you have going on this weekend?

All week long, I have been in a major decorating mood. Here is a few little sneak peeks until I reveal everything I have been doing!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Weekly Recap and A little fall decor

I have seen a lot of weekly recaps on some of my favorite blogs and I thought it would be fun to try out. I know I completely miss posts during the week, so it’s nice to have a recap of the week that way I can see which posts I haven’t read from my favorite bloggers.

On the blog:

Monday – I shared a few things I am loving & a few things I’m wishing for.
Tuesday – I gave the spotlight to my sponsors and shared some of my favorite posts from them, there is also a giveaway involved! ;)
Wednesday – I showed off my first fall outfit, I seriously can’t wait until fall weather really sets in.
Thursday – I shared my first DIY washi tape craft – it’s a love mailbox and I think it’s adorable.
Friday – Instead of doing my usual coffee post, I shared a few non joys about being a woman.

Off the blog:

This week was a rough one. Which is probably why I got a lot of crafting/decorating done because I really couldn’t do much else. My back has been killing. I did go see my new doctor this week and he is really great. I’ll be going in for another round of injections soon. Jay did great in school this week and is getting so much better at his writing and his flash cards, it makes me so happy! Kage has also been wanting to learn a lot more and play with me more. He’s been playing on his little vtech, learning sounds and what not, it’s adorable.

The worst thing about being a woman

Hey Y’all. I would say happy Friday, but it’s that time of the month and there ain’t nothing happy about that. On that subject, why do us women have to subjected to this kind of ridiculousness once a month for three or more days? Bleeding from the you know what, that’s just gross, period {pun intended}. Turning into a raging bitch, I mean really, who wants to put up with that? I really don’t even like myself half the time during this time of the month. My husband just knows when my friend has come to visit, I’m pretty sure I walk around with bitch written all over my face. Bloating and cramps? Seriously, NOTHING good comes of this little “visit.”

Then, oh heaven forbid we stop having it when we get older, we will go through that lovely thing older woman talk about called menopause. Excessive sweating. That alone makes me want to cry. I don’t mind to sweat if it’s from doing hard work, sweating because my “little friend” doesn’t make her monthly visit anymore is really going to get under my skin. Gah, isn’t being a woman great? Since I am on to something here and this is turning out nothing like the post I planned out, let’s just keep going with it and see where it goes. Should I mention when my friend visits, my brain turns to nothing. Yeah, there is that fun perk too. Women also have to deal with shaving, good grief – WHY do we have hair on are arms, legs, underarms, and um – yeah, that place our little friend visit?!!

I need laser hair removal like yesterday because I hate shaving. My husband’s lucky that I care he likes smooth legs, otherwise I would probably never shave during fall and winter! Another thing women deal with is, boobs – yep. They are perfection when they are first coming up. Pop out a couple kids and well, gravity works. I should also add boob lift to my things I need to get done. Also, try having an angry baby suck on your ta-tas, that shiz hurts, I don’t care what anyone says. Another thing, WHY is it SO much easier for guys to loose weight than girls?! When Hubby and I started working out together he was dropping weight like crazy, I on the other hand, barely noticed a difference, which is probably why we aren’t working out anymore.

Also, why do guys roll out of bed looking like some male god and females have to put up with looking like the wicked witch of the east until we “put our face on” and fix our hair. Unless you are naturally blessed with pretty hair and perfect skin, in which case I hate you. ;) I would also like to know how it is women can give birth to a baby and manage to live through it, but a guy gets sick and he acts like he’s on his death bed? Why don’t we get to act that way? I’m pretty sure when I’m sick, I don’t fall into bed and sleep until I’m better. Oh, no. Hubby normally has to work and I’m trying to fend off my kids as I try and catch a nap on the couch while keeping one eye open.

I would also like to know who came up with the idea on top of everything else, that women should put paint on their nails. Ladies, I fail at this. Oh, I try constantly, but I still suck at it. Then I see all of these other women who have pretty nail polish and I look at my craptastic nails and realize they need to be painted to look a little less craptastic, another thing a man doesn’t have to do. A man also doesn’t have to carry a baby for nine months and deal with finding out areas jiggle that you don’t want jiggling, your boobs swelling to the size of watermelons and puking most of the day the first three months. Yeah, let’s see them try and do any/all of that. #theywouldfail #ireallydidnotmindbeingpregnant ;)

It’s fun being a woman isn’t it? So, I don’t sound crazy for it being that time of the month, what is one thing that drives you crazy when it comes to being a woman?

DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

Hey ladies {and um gentlemen?} How was your weekend? I really hope it was a good one! Today, instead of my usual life lately post, I thought I would change things up a bit and share a fun and simple craft I did last week. I bought my first few rolls of Washi Tape and I am ADDICTED to it! I never thought I would say I was addicted to tape, but *sigh* I SO am. Anyways, back to the point. With life so busy lately between work, school, baseball and the regular everyday life things, do you ever feel like you and your spouse are barely getting a “Hey, how was your day” and a kiss in? Well, I feel like that often and I wanted to do something to make things fun.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

I created a Love Mailbox where we can write each other short {or long} love notes. Little reminders of I’m thinking about you or how our day went or whatever we feel like writing to one another. Yes, it’s mushy and gushy and I really don’t care because I sure do love that man. Now let’s see if he actually does it. ;) Bonus, I’m going to show you how I made this cuteness.
First you will need a Kleenex hand towel box. Those things are awesome by the way. Stock up on them because they are way better than using a hand towel every time you have to dry your hands. Back to the point.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

You will also need..

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

{If you can’t see the picture it’s scissors, washi tape and a permanent marker}
I took the wrapping off the Kleenex box.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

Then came the fun part. I just simply did row by row of washi tape. I used all three colors and I love the way it turned out.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

On the sides, I did just a simple strip of washi tape to cover up the overlapping washi tape from the front.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

For the top, I just doodled on it. It was hard writing at a weird angle, so my writing isn’t the best. I probably should have wrote it in cursive, because I write way better in cursive. I simply added four hearts and some words to it!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Washi Tape Love Mailbox

Then I placed it on top of our command center, which I’ll be showing y’all soon, promise!

So, what do ya think? Do you think it will work in adding a fun little spark to a relationship? Even if we don’t stick with it {which I really hope we do} It’s a super cute decoration!

What I Wore + The Texas State Fair

Last week we had one of our first fall days, we may be back in the 90s now, but those couple of days of beautiful weather were amazing and I took full advantage of rocking some fall style!

One of my favorite things about fall is that it is the time of year for the Texas state fair. Woo hoo! If you live in Texas, here is a little info for ya! I have never been to the state fair and I am SO excited to go this year and take the boys!

It’s time to get ready to make memories at the State Fair of Texas. This year’s theme is “The One and Only.” The State Fair has been going on annually since 1886 and this year is the grand return of Big Tex! The State Fair opens September 27 and runs through October 20, 2013 in FairPark located just two miles east of downtown Dallas. Enjoy free concerts on the All-New Silverado Main Stage. Come by the Hall of State to see “The Life & Times of Big Tex” exhibition, chronicling the giant cowboy’s 60-year history with the StateFair of Texas. Your kids will definitely enjoy our ostrich races in the Pan Am Arena. They are new this year and those birds can really hoof it! If a breathtaking view is what you like then hop aboard the one-of-a-kind 500 –ft. tall Top o’ Texas Tower ride for a panoramic view of the DFW metroplex.

The State Fair of Texas claims the title of Fried Food Capital of Texas for 24 days each year. Don’t miss the chance to experience food and fun at the Fair. Dad is sure to enjoy the State Fair Auto Show – see 2014 models – filling two exhibit halls and the Truck Zone outside. It’s the largest new auto show in the Southwest!

So, have you ever been to the Texas state fair? If you don’t live in Texas, does your state have a fair? What can I expect? I really am thrilled!

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

You may remember me mentioning in my goals post, that I wanted to do something fun every weekend. It is something I have put my mind to and we have absolutely stuck to it! We try to do family movie night once or twice a month and I knew we didn’t have anything fun planned Saturday evening as a family, so movie night it was! I also knew exactly what type of movie night I wanted us to have, a picnic dinner and movie. So, last week I ventured to Walmart {yes, that is one of my favorite stores} and checked out the demo they had going on for Tyson Popcorn Chicken {you can view my shopping experience here}. Y’all, I tried the sample as I listened to the lady talk about how long it took to cook, fun ways you could use it, etc. After that first bite, I was 100% sold.

I quickly began wracking my brain for how I could turn this into a recipe instead of just a snack and wa-la, my dinner for movie night was born. I say my dinner, because my family isn’t big on salads, but I love them! When Saturday night finally rolled around, I was more than ready for movie night. Earlier in the day we had gone to Jay’s 1st baseball game {more on that soon} and I even squeezed in a nap! Like, I said more than ready and I was more than ready to put the recipe in my head to use! I bring you:
Tyson popcorn chicken salad and yes, it is as good as it sounds. You will need:

Now that you have the yummy recipe, let’s get back to our picnic movie night. We easily could have just sat on the couch and ate while we watched our movie, we have done that many times in the past during our family movie nights, but like I said I wanted to make this fun. We laid out a blanket, set all of our food on it and got comfy!

I wound up arranging the rest of the popcorn chicken on a serving tray with plenty of ranch dressing to go around. My boys seriously loved that I stuck tooth-picks in each piece that way they could easily pick it up and dip it in the ranch without making a huge mess and who am I kidding, I loved it too.

We wound up browsing Netflix for a family movie to watch and Hubby picked one called the Mouse and the motorcycle. Y’all, I will never get back that 41 minutes of my life. Worst.Movie.Ever. My kids loved it for whatever reason, I, on the other hand would have rather been watching Fast and the furious 6. Mmmm, I can never get enough of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Speaking of them, I still haven’t seen the newest movie, sigh. I will gladly watch them in 6 when it comes out on DVD! ;)

Tyson Popcorn Chicken Salad recipe & a movie night #shop

Even though I could careless for the movie Hubby picked, we relaxed and grubbed out. It was so nice to just have some down time with my three favorite boys.
This was the first time the boys and Hubby were trying the popcorn chicken that I had already sampled and it was a hit with them too! I consider that winning. I’m already ready to go back and get another bag and come up with another recipe! Especially, since my salad was delicious and it was gone before that movie was even over! I’ll definitely be eating the leftovers after church tomorrow.
