Random ass thoughts

It’s been a little bit since I’ve wrote about my older sister. There really is nothing to write. I had this stupid ass hope for no stupid reason. I’m not even speaking to her anymore and that pretty much kills me to write, but it is what it is. Just keep praying if you can.

I am so far beyond looking forward to this weekend. My husband has the whole weekend off which is super rare and Saturday we are going to be kid free for a bit. We have some awesome sauce things planned and I can’t wait. It may just involve tattoos, a new dishwasher {ours broke} and a possible dinner out.

We went over to my momma’s today and the boys played outside in the EIGHTY degree weather. {sorry to all of you still freezing, just another reason I love Texas.} My mom and I sat and talked and it was a nice visit. When the ice cream man came down the road, I decided, why the hell not and let my boys pick out some ice cream which they happily devoured.

I keep telling myself I’m going to watch House of Cards, I’ve never seen it and after Erin’s post, I have been going back and forth on it. I’m not sure if I’m ready to get sucked into another show with all I have going on, but at the same time, it may just be the perfect thing to give my mind a damn break.

I’ve decided that if you ever want a good cry. Watch Army Wives. Every time I decide to re-watch the seasons, I cry, even though I know the sad parts are coming… I still freaking cry.

As I type this Kage is curled up on the couch with his head on a pile of laundry that needs to be put away and he is fast asleep. His mouth is slightly open and his chest is slowly rising and falling. It’s the cutest site ever. {proof}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Random ass thoughts

I want to be bffs with Roxy, but I want Claudia Joy’s organization and cleaning skills.

I’ve strangely been drinking big red a lot. Like, it’s probably ridiculous. I think I’m just going to go with it.

I figure taking pictures while laying down, making ridiculous faces and wearing your favorite shirt from this girl is one of life’s most random moments.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Random ass thoughts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Random ass thoughts

The dogs in my neighbors backyards don’t know how to ever shut up at night. I’ve thought about throwing a shoe at the them all, but they would probably jump the fence and eat me because they are asshole dogs. I’m not just saying that either, they really are mean dogs.

I still have my Valentine’s decor up. I keep telling myself to take it down and I even told myself that I was going to decorate for St. Patrick’s Day and then I said eff it, I’m just going to jump right into spring/Easter décor… as soon as I take the Valentine’s decorations down.

And that concludes the most random post I’ve ever written. Have a great weekend y’all!

Sh*t that annoys me

{Before I jump into this post, I would so appreciate it if you would please take this reader survey I created to get a better grasp on my readers and what y’all wanna see and what y’all like/don’t like on this little space of mine! It will only take about two minutes!}

I’m in a pretty irritated mood tonight and so this blog post coming to me didn’t really take that much work. I’ve been overly annoyed today by the stupidest things and I know I am not alone in the little or big things that annoy me. So, I bring you today’s post…

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Sh*t that annoys me

When my boys constantly ask for something over and over and over and over and… you get it, either after I’ve already said no or after I’ve said “Just give me a minute and I will get it.” For whatever reason, both of those responses somehow trigger something in their brain to nag mom to death until she loses her mind.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Sh*t that annoys me

Stupid people. That may sound harsh, but my best friend’s grandpa used to tell her something along the lines of, “Some people are just born stupid and they never grow out of it.” Or something like that and um… can I freaking get an amen? I also don’t mean people that don’t know how to do math or anything like that. I mean, like they are just down right ignorant in the shit they do.

Nails. On. A. Chalkboard. Or any form of screeching noise for that matter. It instantly gets my blood boiling and I want to hit whoever made the noise at the time.

Not having my red bulls in the morning, that’s probably equivalent to most of y’all not having your coffee in the morning. I hate having to go out first thing when I wake up just to grab red bull, so I normally don’t and I just wait until I have to take Jay to school and by that point, I’m just way beyond annoyed.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Sh*t that annoys me

Drama. No, this isn’t some girl cliché of every girl who says that. I like watching drama on TV, those ridiculous reality shows that are jammed packed with drama, oh yeah I’m all over that. Seeing stupid drama in my facebook feed, that’s sometimes amusing. Having drama in my personal life annoys the shit out of me and if there is any for a long point of time, I eventually just shut it out.

“How you should blog” posts. It is totally fine every once in a while, but I see a lot of it now and it really annoys the hell out of me. I understand there are important things you need to do if you want to make money blogging and build your blog and yada yada, but it seems to me that people who stay true to themselves and write whatever the hell they feel like writing, are actually pretty damn successful.

Blogging cliques. Yeah, if you’re new to blogging, they are out there and good luck getting in. I feel like an outsider 99% of the time in this blogging world and that’s not because I’m not “putting myself out there” like I’ve been told to do before, but it’s because trying to get noticed by someone who you genuily like, whether they are big or small is damn near impossible. Welcome back to high school ladies.

The smell of something burning. Not a fire, I love the smell of a fire. I mean the smell of burnt hair or burnt paper. I just hate it.

When Hubby and I don’t have date night for a while. There are times we try and no matter how hard we try, it just doesn’t happen and that shiz is annoying.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Sh*t that annoys me

I should probably stop before I sound like someone who is annoyed by the world. Actually I am, but that’s another post for another day.

To make me sound less crazy, share with me one or five things that annoy you!

A Sunday well spent

Not this past weekend, but the weekend before that, we took the boys to the park. We have really been trying to get Jay to master riding his bike on his own without any help. The weather was absolutely beautiful and Hubby was off work so we decided to load the boys up with their bikes and head out. The boys were of course thrilled. There is just something about little kids and parks that turns them instantly into the happiest children that ever walked the planet. Anyways, we had them ride their bikes for a little bit, Jay rode a little without any help, but Hubby was right there to help him when he needed it. {Kage didn’t have a real bike at this point, he does now! Also, Jay pretty much mastered riding his bike slowly this weekend!} After that little bike ride they played all over the little playground. The weather was so beautiful that I told Hubby we should take a walk around the trail and that is exactly what we did. I snapped some beautiful pictures {that I can’t share with you yet because I have something in the works with them ;) } and the boys enjoyed running up ahead, stopping to look at the creek and just enjoying being outside. Hubby and I held hands and walked a little ways behind them and stopped to read the little signs on the trail out loud to the boys. It was truly a Sunday well spent…

I’m the kinda girl who…

Happy Monday friends, although I probably shouldn’t say happy since I’m in the worst mood ever. Lets just hope that by the time you read this it is a happy Monday. I’m joining in on a fun little linkup and mixing it up with a little life lately. Lets get to it.

I’m the kinda girl who..

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // I'm the kinda girl who...

Is obsessed with the new Waterlogue app. It’s brilliant I tell ya.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // I'm the kinda girl who...

Who loves her kids and her messy life beyond reason. I wouldn’t trade this life for anything in the world. I mean, look how damn blessed I am. #tooblessedtostress

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // I'm the kinda girl who...

Who loves the sight of a father with his children.

Who loves acting silly with her boys.

Who loves snapping pictures of sleeping little ones.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // I'm the kinda girl who...

Who doesn’t mind being surrounded by my kiddos and my sweet nieces and nephew. They make my world go round.

Who apparently debates nail polish via Instagram. For the record, I decided I didn’t like the color on me and promptly removed it.

Who believes in letting boys be boys, even if that involves Cheeto fingers, acorns and sticks.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // I'm the kinda girl who...

Who believes in family cuddle time on Sunday, which turns into family nap time.

Who believes in riding bikes when the weather is perfect, along with coloring with chalk.

Who is not above bribing her boys with ice cream to insure there isn’t a war when it comes time for haircuts.

Who thinks it’s adorable that my boys favorite thing about getting their hair cut is the shower that comes afterwards. My floor may have been wet, but listening to them play water basketball and laughing hysterically makes up for it.

Who thinks taking any form of picture in a full length mirror just rocks. Especially when there is tiny feet and legs involved.

What type of girl are you?

How can I say no?

Being a parent has stirred so many emotions inside of me. Feelings I didn’t even know existed until I held my sweet baby in my arms for the first time. Feelings that continue to grow and spread into every fiber of my being as they continue to get older. One of my favorite things is when they ask me to do something, something that I just can’t say no to. I mean..

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Kage, when you wrap your little arms around me after I’ve read to y’all before bedtime and you ask me if I can lay down with you and watch a movie, how can I tell you no?

When I’m washing dishes, a simple mundane task to me and y’all ask to help put away the dishes with a fun light in your eyes, how can I tell y’all no?

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Jay, when you look at me with those beautiful blue/green eyes and ask me to come eat lunch with you at school and you tell me, “I promise I won’t cry when you have to leave.” How can I tell you no?

When the weather is perfectly beautiful and the sun is beckoning us outside and y’all ask me to take you to the park, how can I say no?

After I’ve tucked y’all into bed at night and y’all call me back into the room for one more kiss and hug, when you randomly run up to me and give me a kiss & hug and pull back only to lean back in and ask for one more, how could I possibly tell you no?

When it’s been a long day and I’m yawning through the bedtime story, after I whisper “the end” like I do every night, when one of you looks up at me with those big beautiful eyes you both have and ask for, “One more story momma.” How can I tell you no?

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Jay, when you ask to put on your new clothes and show me tricks you figured out all by yourself on your skateboard, how could I ever look at you and tell you no?

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Kage, when you ask me to stop reading so you can show me how you can pick the petals off of a flower, your little fingers set on the task before you, how can I tell you no?

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Jay, when you run up to me, grab my hand and drag me into the kitchen because you just have to show me how proud you are of sorting your letters into colors on the fridge, how could I tell you no?

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // How can I say no?

Kage, when you grab your little guitar and want to play me a song that isn’t really a song, but it’s perfect because you’re playing it for me, how could I possibly tell you no?

Kage, when you ask to cuddle with me on the couch after Jay has fallen asleep, you know I have things to do, but you want me to lay there with you and even sometimes be silly during those moments, how can I tell you no?

It’s simple, I can’t. I know one days those things above and so much more are going to be a distant memory as you get older and stop asking me to do those things, so for now, when it comes to certain things, I just can’t tell y’all no.

Do you rock to your own style?

As I start to dig deeper into myself, I’m starting to realize what my style is. You might think that you don’t have to dig deep to figure it out, it’s just clothes and to some people it is just clothes and it really doesn’t matter, but for me, it’s another expression of who I am. My style shows a glimpse into my personality, it’s a form of creative art that you get to wear, that you get to let whoever you come into contact with see. I used to be one of those girls who cared so much about what other people thought about my clothes, to the point where I drove myself crazy trying to get ready to go out somewhere. It wasn’t until a couple of months ago that I started pushing those thoughts aside and really focusing on what I like, what articles of clothing make me happy, what articles of clothing show a little bit of my personality, that I stopped driving myself crazy when trying to get ready to go out. It has been a slow process of stepping out of that comfort zone of what I know for a fact people like and stepping into my own comfort zone of what I know I freaking love.

Little Mister Style Series #2

One of the reasons I started the Little Mister Style Series / Linkup is not only because I adore my little boys {duh}, but because I think it’s fun to show off their style. It will give me and them something to look back on as they get older and their style continues to change and grow. I’m sure I’ll get the “You dressed me in THAT mom!!” laughs or the “damn I was a little stud.” comments and that is something I’m looking forward to. I also don’t want the Little Mister Style Series to be something that is forced. If my boys don’t want to pose, that’s fine I’ll catch them in their natural element like I did for these pictures and that is totally fine by me. I think I get way better pictures that way anyway. Another reason I started it, is to get them comfortable and confident in front of the camera at a young age. Let’s face it, taking pictures and being in pictures has become so wildly popular and I don’t think it’s going to stop anytime soon and unlike me, I want them to be able to jump in front of the camera and smile and be silly without any problem!

Let’s jump right in.. Jay was the only one who got in on the style post last week and let me just say, he loves knowing he is actually apart of something on my blog, that he is doing something because I asked him to be a part of it, instead of just the normal posts I write about him and his brother! I think it’s so sweet!

Potty training using the Walmart Cottonelle Clean Care routine

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Cottonelle but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #CtnlCareRoutine http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO”

Being a “mommy” blogger and having two young boys, you would think potty training is something I would have talked about before, but I am not the “traditional” potty training mom and I have been criticized for it before, therefore talking about it on the blog is always something I have been hesitant about. Once I talked to my best friend though, I realized I was definitely not alone in my non traditionalness and that means there has to be other moms out there who are freaking out because there little one is not fully potty trained, wiping themselves, etc. by the age of two. Moms, I am here to tell you, while there are plenty of kids who have no problem being fully potty trained by two years old, NOT all little ones are like that and my kids are proof of that and so are my best friends kids! I also know that for a time one of my niece’s was potty trained by the age of two and then she started reverting back to wanting to wear diapers. Talking about anything parenting wise can be a touchy subject and I never want to come off like I know exactly what I’m doing. What works for one moms kids, may not work for the others and vise versa.

For those of you though, whose kids are hell bent on not potty training at two or heck at even three, have no fear. I’m here to tell you that it is okay that they aren’t. When my oldest was two, we began introducing him to the potty. At first, he seemed pretty excited about it, but then he got a little scared and wasn’t really sure about it. Every time we tried to “force” him to use the potty, he rebelled. I heard from several people that potty training boys was much harder than potty training girls and if he wasn’t ready, I wasn’t going to make him. We decided to wait another year while still trying to talk about the potty as much as possible and of course encouraging it, but we didn’t force him to use it because we already learned what a disaster that was. During his threes, it was much of the same thing. He just did not want to use that dang potty no matter how hard we tried. Again, I didn’t want him to be scared of the potty, so I didn’t force it and again we still encouraged it and praised him whenever he actually did use it. It wasn’t until he was four years old that I knew he was ready and he knew he was ready, even if he was still a little unsure about the whole thing. We bought him a new potty chair, one that was much more fun. We put the potty chair in front of the TV in the living room, turned on his favorite movie, gave him his favorite drink and sat him down on the potty.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Potty training using the Walmart Cottonelle Clean Care routine #CtnlCareRoutine #PMedia #ad

Guess what, he went potty and we praised him like crazy and from then on out it was smooth sailing. There was no screaming and crying because he didn’t want to use the potty, there was no more frustration on our end. We used the same technique with our youngest. He is now four years old and we are actively potty training him. He has been doing pretty well, but he isn’t fully potty trained yet, but I know he will get there just like his brother did. It helps so much that Kage has Jay cheering him on as well. One thing that has been kind of blah about this whole situation is that while my oldest does try to wipe his own little booty, sometimes it’s hard for him and there winds up being little crumbs of toilet paper left on his butt afterwards and now that we are potty training Kage, we are trying to transition him from wipe to toilet paper as well.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Potty training using the Walmart Cottonelle Clean Care routine #CtnlCareRoutine #PMedia #ad

After using the Walmart Cottonelle Clean Care Routine we are SO excited to continue with it. Jay can wipe his little tush with ease using the Cottonelle cleansing wipes and I love, love, love that they are flushable because before we were still using wipes sometimes and those can’t be flushed and I hated that. Now, he gets to wipe and throw it into the potty and then use the Cottonelle Clean Care toilet paper to dry off his little booty. I was going to share pictures of him, but since he is almost six, I knew he wouldn’t like having his picture taken on the potty, but Kage on the other hand was all for it! Lol! We also tried it on Kage today after he went number two in the potty and he loved pulling it out of the fun little dispenser and he told me he liked using the cleansing wipes! We will absolutely be continuing this routine until they are fully transitioned to toilet paper and we already love Cottonelle and I love the softness of the clean care toilet paper!
