Hair Tutorial: From Curly to Straight

Awhile ago {wayyyy too long ago}, I posted a picture of my frizzy, curly, long hair on IG and a picture of it non frizzy and straight, I asked if anyone wanted me to do a tutorial on how I tamed the mess. The answer was a big yes! Well, I was a total slacker and didn’t get around to it and I wound up chopping my hair off! The only thing is, my hair is still super curly and crazy even with it short so, I thought why not go ahead and do that tutorial. This is seriously the easiest way I do my hair. It takes me all of ten minutes and I always love the result! There are only three main things I use for this. Two hair products and my straightener.

Here is my super easy and quick way to get my hair from curly to straight!

Step One: After you get out of the shower. Spray in this leave in conditioner. It helps make your hair so soft and smooth. I swear by this stuff! I’m pretty sure I got it at cvs. Either blow dry your hair afterwards or let it air dry. I usually let mine air dry.

Step Two: Pull most of your hair back into a ponytail, only leaving a little bit down. Apply a small amount of Shine Shield to the section of your hair that is down. Right after you apply that, straighten that part of your hair.

Step Three. Let a little bit of your hair out at a time. Apply the shine shield and straighten the parts that are down. Repeat this until all of your hair is out of the ponytail.

Step Four. Flip all of your hair to one side, tilt your head slightly down on that side, and run your straightener over all of the hair. It doesn’t have to be perfect. You just want to do a quick straighten. Flip your hair to the other side and do the same thing.

Step Five. Flip all of your hair over your head. Bend your head down as far as you can and carefully straighten the underneath part. This helps to get any bumps you might have missed and actually helps to give your hair a little volume.

Step Six: Flip it back over and brush it out. Now you can either keep it straight like it is or use your straightener to flip out some of the ends. I like flipping out some of my hair on both sides because it just makes it look cuter in my opinion, but if I don’t have the time, I just leave it straight!

There you have it! My two favorite products! All you need are those, your straightener and 10 minutes and you will have a cute and easy hair style!

You have such a cute hairstyle! That is a big transformation, I have to try some of the products you used. I am always struggling with straightening my hair and the humidity does not help one bit!

Your hair is so cute short! I loose patience when I try to straighten my hair, though it’s usually because there’s a kid hanging off my leg while I’m trying to do it!

Love your hair short! I would never have guessed it was that curly! Beautiful either way! I prefer straight on me and my husband likes my natural “wave” :) I will def have to try the products you recommended because I’m not using anything specific right now.

Awe!! I know there are a lot of hair products that could give your hair body! Maybe I should do a post about them in the future. My hair just lays flat when I straighten it and I’ve been wanting to play around with hair products that give it a little something extra!
