Our perfect at home date night

My husband and I used to be so great about “dating” each other. Whether we were going out for date night or staying in, we made sure it happened at least twice a month. I believe it’s so important to date your spouse and keep your romance alive. As much as I love my kids, those times with my husband are beyond needed. Those times where we have real adult conversation, can linger quietly over a meal, steal kisses, and just simply enjoy each other. Yeah, those times absolutely recharged me and I was more than ready to take on the week and I could always tell when it had been too long since we had a date night; I don’t know how to really explain it besides, I just felt irritated and off. Like, I just needed one on one time with my husband. I needed to get out of the house with him or stay in with him, either way, I just needed time with him. Before we found out I was pregnant, our date nights had started going down to once a month and sometimes, we would even completely skip a month due to my husband’s work schedule, but we were doing our best to still make date nights work. One of my favorite date night’s while I was pregnant happened while we were in south padre and I’ll never forget that memory. Once I got put on bed rest, you can imagine our date nights became non existent because Hubby was trying to balance it all while I wasn’t allowed to do anything.

Being put on bed rest gave me a lot of time to think though. I knew the twins could arrive anytime and I knew we were going to have two babies + our two older boys to care for. I knew that my days were going to go from sun up until sun down with how busy I was going to be. I knew that my time would be even more stretched and I began to wonder if there was anything I just wasn’t willing to comprise on. When you become a momma, even for the first time, you sacrifice a lot of your time for your child{ren} and that’s exactly how it should be. Putting my kids needs before my own was a natural instinct for me and most days, I have zero problems with doing that. Like I said though, realizing how much more of my time would be stretched, I knew there was going to be a couple of things I wouldn’t budge on because I just need these times. I’ll get into the others later, but for now, one thing I wasn’t giving up was date night with my husband. It is so easy to get caught up in being a momma, running the kids here and there, errands, keeping up with the house, laundry, and so much more. Add in for the past seven weeks I had been going to the hospital every single day to visit my babies..

As you can see, making time for my husband, making time to be his wife, and solely focus on us, can get lost and lost rather quickly. One thing I told myself I was going to do in the new year, is to make sure our date nights stay alive. I know we won’t have as many as we once had, at least for awhile, but I told myself we can manage once a month. Even if we don’t get out of the house for our date night, we could easily have different types of date nights at home. What I love about having date night’s at home is they are alot cheaper, we don’t have to find a sitter because we can wait until after all the little ones are asleep, and we can have any type of night we want at home. For our first date night, I decided on a romantic night.

I ran to walmart to grab everything I needed. For this super simple, yet romantic date night you will need:
- Something for dinner. I chose to make spaghetti so I gathered all the ingredients I would need for that.
- Wine or a drink of choice.
- Wine glasses.
- K-Y® YOURS+MINE and/or K-Y® DATE NIGHT
{There is an awesome deal coming soon for K-Y® DATE NIGHT: $50 value, you get 1 free meal for two people from PEACHDISH.com delivered to your door! How perfect for that at home date! You also get $5 VUDU movie credit for you to stream right at home!}

As you can see, I didn’t spend an arm and a leg for this because after I finish making dinner, I can switch the mood to romance without having to spend big bucks to make it romantic. A delicious meal with the lights down low, quiet conversation, kisses that taste as good as the wine your drinking; is all you need for a romantic date night. In an atmosphere like that, you might just love what happens next, but I’ll leave that for your imagination for you and your spouse. Ladies, don’t be scared to ask your man to try out the K-Y® YOURS+MINE either. I was pretty nervous about asking him and let’s just say, I had no reason to be. ;) I can’t wait to plan out our next date night! I’m thinking game night for our next one, you’ll just have to wait and see what that consists of!

I feel like I totally failed at Christmas this year for my kids. With the twins in the NICU, I had still wanted everything to be normal at home for Jay and Kage. I made sure to put decorations up inside the house right after Thanksgiving. I made sure to bring Elfie out this year, even though I didn’t want to add one more thing to do with everything going on. I failed at moving Elfie more often than not from pure exhaustion and forgetting, but thankfully my husband started taking over moving him. I made sure to watch a few Christmas movies with the boys. We didn’t get our letters wrote to Santa this year. We didn’t put lights up outside. We threw our old tree away last year and had planned on getting a real tree this year, but things happened and getting a real tree didn’t happen. Hubby wound up picking up a small tree almost two weeks before Christmas, but guess what, the boys didn’t even care that it was a small tree, they loved it in fact because they could easily decorate the whole thing and Jay had no problem putting the star on the top. {Our Christmas last year} We didn’t go Christmas shopping until last minute, but I did make sure gifts were wrapped and under the tree Christmas eve day. I didn’t hang their stockings until Christmas eve and I totally dropped the ball on getting Jax and Kade their first stockings. I spent part of Christmas at the hospital visiting Jax. We didn’t bake a cake for Jesus on Christmas like we’ve done every year and we didn’t making Christmas cookies. We did laugh, cuddle, play with new toys, and enjoyed having a quiet Christmas day at home instead of going anywhere like we usually do. Things were very different this year vs previous years, it impacted me more than the boys. I noticed they didn’t care about the little things that I did. I noticed they loved the decorations around the house, they loved our little tree, they loved every gift they got, and they were satisfied just being at home with us on Christmas day. They reminded me what Christmas was really about during such a hectic time in our lives. I do know though, that next year will be extra special because we will have our whole family at home next Christmas. :)

Mini Dr Pepper Bar

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #PassThePepper #CollectiveBiasLive.Laugh.L0ve. // Mini Dr Pepper Bar #PassThePepper #ad #cbias

We are huge football lovers in this house. If our team is playing, you will find us watching the game at my in-laws house on my mother in law’s big screen TV or in the comfort of our own home, cheering our team on, snacking on some delicious food, and with our favorite drink in hand. This year we will be watching the big game from home since we finally have our twins home, BUT I put together a fun little idea that you can do at home with just you and your little family or for throwing a party on game day. I created a Mini Dr Pepper “bar.” We loved experiments with different flavors and the boys loved making their own drinks!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Mini Dr Pepper Bar #PassThePepper #ad #cbias

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Mini Dr Pepper Bar #PassThePepper #ad #cbias

To make your own Mini Dr Pepper bar, head to Kroger and get:
– Dr Pepper, Diet Dr Pepper, and or Dr Pepper ten. {I used Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper.}
– Lemons and Limes.
– Cherry + the cherry juice.
– Vanilla flavoring.
– Any other flavors you think your guests will want to experiment with.

I simply cut up the lemons and limes, put them in a small dish, then I put cherries in another dish. If you are using this for a party idea, you will definitely need a bigger bowl to hold your extra ingredients! For our little family though, these small containers were enough.

Then, we poured Dr Pepper or Diet Dr Pepper in our cups and started adding the flavors we loved! I added cherries and cherry syrup to mine and it tasted SO yummy! We added lemon + lime with the diet Dr Pepper and that was good too!!

I can’t wait to use this idea for future parties, I really think people would love making their own flavor of drinks!

Are you a Dr Pepper lover? If so, what is your favorite flavor?! I’m down for some regular Dr Pepper anytime, but cherry Dr Pepper is my jam!

Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolateThe weather here in Texas has been going from warm to freezing lately. With the weather flip flopping, I never know from one day to the next if it’s going to be warm or cold, but I’ve been sure to keep hot chocolate on hand for those cold days. Nothing quite warms you up like a delicious cup of hot chocolate. The other night I decided to make some, but I didn’t want to just make regular hot chocolate, therefore, I got a little experimental and we wound up LOVING it! We drank them so fast I’m surprised we didn’t get a belly ache! ;) lol. Since it tasted so good and was a huge hit with my boys, I wanted to share it with y’all. Here is how to make our new favorite hot chocolate.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

You will need:
– Candy cane hot chocolate
– A cup
– Red sprinkles
– A candy cane
– Whip cream

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

First, start by making your hot chocolate how you would normally make it. I know some people use milk to make their hot cocoa, but we use water. Pour the packet into the cup + add water {or milk} + stir it up.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Then, take your whip cream and spray it into the cup all the way to the rim. It’s okay if it goes over a little because the whip cream that’s on the bottom right on top of the hot cocoa will start melting.

Sprinkle on your red sprinkles, add a candy cane, and you’re done! Stick a straw in it and enjoy!

What’s your go to drink when it’s cold outside?

The sweetest moment

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // The sweetest moment

When we first brought Kade home from the hospital, both the boys were kind of hesitant about him. They would look at him when I held him or when he was in his bouncer, they would let Kade wrap his little fingers around their hands, but that’s as far as it went. I don’t blame them though because Kade is tiny, if I wasn’t a momma, I might be hesitant to hold him too. I’ve been offering for Jay to hold him, but he’s been saying no. Well, the other day he decided he wanted to hold him for a minute so, I let him.

It was absolutely adorable and I had to grab my camera and snap a couple of pictures. Jay was smiling almost the whole time. He truly loves his little brother. After school, Jay asks me several times, “Mommy can I give Kade a kiss.” Of course I say yes and smile as he kisses Kade’s head. Jay will sit there and talk to him and show him his toys. It is just so adorable to watch. I love watching their bond form and being able to see these sweet memories. He watches over him so much. When Kade is sleeping and Jay is talking to me, he will come up to me and say, “mommy, I love you soooo much.” :) My heart melts.

Young Living Essential oil: Peppermint

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Young Living Essential oil: Peppermint

A couple of weeks ago I started my young living essential oil series. You can see six of my favorite oils here and you can see the oil I shared on December 3rd, which was Joy. Today, I’m going to share another absolute favorite! Peppermint. I seriously love the heck out of peppermint oil. I mainly use peppermint for headaches. I apply one drop to each side of my temple and one drop on the back of my neck, it works wonders! I’ve also stared using it on Kade for his reflux and he’s not doing it as much now, yay! I dilute it alot with olive oil and put one drop peppermint oil in a bowl with olive oil, mix it up, then i apply one drop to the bottom of each of his feet.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Young Living Essential oil: Peppermint

A few other things it can be used for:

Headaches
Itching
Breech babies
Lactation decrease
Constipation
Energy increase
Nausea

Peppermint is seriously my best friend. I get headaches pretty often so I make sure to carry peppermint with me wherever I go. I highly recommend peppermint oil and I think you will love it if you get it. It’s truly helped me and I’m making sure I never run out of it! :)

If you would like to order oils for yourself, you can do so through my link! :)

DIY Word for the Year Jar

{This post contains affiliate links}Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

If you’ve been following posts in the blog world for the past couple of years, you’ve probably seen that people are starting to throw resolutions out the window and are embracing a word for the year instead. As a matter of fact, I’ve done in the past two years and I’ve loved having a word for the year to embrace, instead of having resolutions that never happen. In 2013, my words were Live Life. I simply just wanted to embrace this life and to really live it and it was something I felt I could do, it was something I knew I could actually strive for. In 2014, my word was fearless. I didn’t conquer being fearless in all areas of my life, but I did conquer quite a few and I enjoyed getting over those fears and realizing what I was capable of. I’ll be sharing my word for 2015 in January, but until then I thought it would be fun to create this word for the year jar.

It would be great for a new years party, everyone can draw a word out of the jar and apply that word to their life in the new year. One word can have a different meaning for everyone. Or you could write down words that you like and draw one out of the jar for the new year. While choosing a word is great, I feel like it’s comfortable. You are picking a word that you’ve thought over and know you can do, but I think having a list of words to choose from and sticking to the one you pick from the jar presents a little more of a challenge. I can’t wait to share what word I wind up getting out of my jar. I loved this craft and idea so much that I decided to share with you how to make your own!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

You will need:
– A Vase
Glue
Gold Glitter
– A gold sharpie paint marker

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

First, I simply wrote Word For The Year on the front of the vase. You can decorate the vase further if you like, but I like the simplicity of it since I knew I would be adding glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Next, I used a glue stick and slid it around the rim of the vase twice and then sprinkled glitter all around the rim. Make sure you put something down to catch the glitter that doesn’t go into the vase and something to dump the glitter that did fall into the vase, out. After I let the glitter on top dry, I turned the vase over and tapped it all the way around to get most of the glitter out of the inside.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

I then cut up little squares of black construction paper and wrote words that I liked on each piece. A few I put in there are: Embrace, Live, Love, Explore, and Create. There was more I wrote down too, just choose words {or have your guest choose words} that inspire you. I could apply any of the ones I just listed to my life in the new year because there is always something I want to do better, more of, or embrace more.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Fold the pieces of paper up and drop them in the jar! Your jar is officially complete! Have fun letting your guests select words or having the fun challenge of choosing your own word for the year at random!

Do you choose a word for the year? If not, do you think you might start?

November Glossybox

{This post contains my referral link & affiliate links}Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

My November Glossybox didn’t get here until a couple of weeks ago, but I am so happy with what’s inside of it. There is some really great products in here that I’m excited to try! I haven’t shared any glossyboxes since July, I’m total slacker, but I’m going to get better about that. I really love sharing what I get in these boxes! Let’s see what all I got for November!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

1. OPI Nail Lacquer. It’s called Pink Outside the Glossybox. I can’t say I really like the color, I’m not a big fan of super light nail colors, but it could be fun to use when I’m doing a design on my nail with a bolder color.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

2. Juice Beauty – Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer. My face has been really, really dry lately so I’m excited to try this moisturizer out. I also happen to love anything green apple!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

3. So Susan – Universal Blush. I actually really like this color. I don’t plan on using it as blush because I don’t wear blush, but I think it will make a really pretty eyeshadow.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

4. 12 Benefits. Not only has my face been dry, but my hair has been crazy dry. I haven’t been taking very good care of it lately, I honestly just don’t have the time to right now, but you better believe I will be putting this in my hair daily.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

5. Herbal Bath – Balancing Lavender. I absolutely love lavender. I use my lavender essential oils to relax my muscles and to help me sleep when I’m having a really hard time falling asleep. So, it should come as no surprise that I’m excited to try this out in the bathtub before bedtime. I could use a nice, relaxing soak in the tub.

What would you be most excited to try out of this box?

Coming home without Jax

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Coming home without Jax

Tuesday I shared how we brought Kade home from the hospital over the weekend. It truly has been amazing having him home and I have a hard time putting him down because for five weeks there were so many times I couldn’t hold him. As you know, we had to come home without Jax. When I first left the hospital without either of my babies, it was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced in my life. The pain of leaving your baby or in my case, babies, in the nicu, is a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I would never want anyone to experience what that is like because it damages you in a way you can’t quite put into words. I never imagined that anything would be harder or hurt worse than leaving them both there, but I was so very wrong.

While I am beyond thrilled to have Kade home and I wouldn’t change it for the world, coming home with one of my babies and not the other is breaking me. I had hoped I would be too busy, too sleep-deprived, too anything, to be able to focus on how upset I am about having one of my babies home and not the other, but that’s not the case. I am very much too tired; I feel like I’m running in a race and can’t stop to catch my breath, I’m very much busy; between having a baby home and everything that comes with having a baby home, my older two boys, cleaning, laundry, school, and still trying to find time to get up to the hospital to see Jax, you would think I wouldn’t have time to be that upset or to be able to focus on how upset I am. Most of the day, I am too busy to think about it, to let myself go to that place that hurts, but random times throughout the day the pain of not having Jax home hits me.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Coming home without Jax

I have started crying in the middle of folding laundry. I had to fight back tears while playing with Kade yesterday because while I was soaking in that beautiful moment with Kade, Jay, and Kage, I was aching to be able to do the same with Jax. I cried listening to I’m already there by Lonestar on the way home from seeing Jax the other day. I’ve fought back tears making bottles because, as odd as it sounds, I want to be making double what I am, but I’m not because I only have one baby here right now. The crying doesn’t last very long, but it rips through me randomly as you can see and I’ve just accepted it. I’ve accepted the pain in my heart is going to be there until I have both my babies home with me, until I can cuddle, kiss, and hold them both whenever I want to. Until I’m even more sleep-deprived than I already am and until I’m even more busy than I already am. I know that the random tears are going to happen until Jax comes home to be with us too.

We were so close to having him home. He had gone eight days without dropping his heart rate, he is eating all his bottles, and gaining weight and earlier this week they talked about having him come home in a day or two, he even passed his car seat test, but on that 8th day, he dropped his heart rate again and has dropped it every day since. It’s breaking my heart. He was so close to coming home, we were so close to having him here, I got my hopes up, and then watched as they all crashed down because he has to stay longer and now we don’t know when he will be coming home. We don’t know if he will be home for Christmas like we had hoped. I’ll be talking to the doctor today to see what he plans to do to find out why Jax is dropping his heart rate again and I can only pray it’s nothing major.
