Now that the temperature is not extremely hot, it’s gone down to what I consider warm and this past weekend was pretty dang cold. I decided to add a few pops of Fall to our casa. I can’t wait to add more this week, I really love fall and I love decorating for fall!

Spray painting mania

Yep – This is a two post kind of day! :) Be sure you check out the first one – it has to do with a buttonwood cottage and little monsters. ;)
This weekend – Saturday to be exact. I spent 3 hours cleaning and organizing and 3 more hours spray painting and decorating! It was a very busy, very productive day and I loved every minute of it! My house is clean and it’s starting to have pops of color and oh how I love pops of color!
First up we have some bar stools. I forgot to take before pictures of them but they were a very faded, beat up black and brown and here they are now!

I.Love.Them. They sit in my living room next to the “bar area”. That’s just what I call it. It’s only used for pretty decorations.
Now seeing how I loved the way those looked. I want more pops of color, so I moved on to the picture frames in our living room.

To say I am smitten with them now is a huge understatement.

Ahhh – LOVE! Then I decided I wanted to make a jewelry holder, because my jewelry & hair accessories have been growing, I needed a new place to store them. So I took part of the screen from our broken fireplace screen.

I spray painted it the same gorgeous blue & got to work. Take a look!

What do you think?!?! :) Let’s take a closer look.

I spy with my little eye beauties from Poofy Cheeks Shop, The Posh Daisy & Pink Lemonade

I also spy beauties from A dance for 5 and Little Penelope Lane.

Needless to say I’m ready to do some more spray painting and add more pops of color all around our house! Are you decorating anything? I would love to hear about it!

Football Mantel

If you saw my guest post over on Holly’s blog
Then you saw me reveal our Football mantel! I promised on her blog that I would share how I decorated it for FREE! =D
If you didn’t see my guest post before I get into this. Here is my mantel now.
Before. All decorated for Halloween.

I really, really wanted a football mantel after Halloween & for it to last until I start decorating for Christmas. I wanted one even more when I saw all of Skye’s football decorations!
I had zero money to spend so I racked my brain and this is how a mantel decorated for free came about.
I had all of this on hand!
First up we have this little sign.
I simply cut out the Texas part and the longhorn symbol off an old hoodie I had and glued it to a board that a I colored black. Yes, I said colored as in not painted, as in I had no black paint on hand.

I got these bad boys at a garage sale as soon as garage sale season hit, so back in May/June I think it was! Also, I apparently really like decorating with plates. My normal mantel had plates, my Halloween mantel had the same plates just decorated and now I have these plates.
But hey it works!

Two longhorn bears.

I stole borrowed these from my little guys! The first one KJ got when he was in the hospital & the second one is Jay’s.
Last up
The vase.

I got this vase from my wonderful mother in law and I took some of the flowers off the centerpiece I used to have on my table and put them in there.
Simple as that!
I love looking at it now and my Hubby now worships the ground I walk on, jk. But he is super happy with it!

A busy day and new decorations

Tuesday’s is normally my take it easy day, but not today. I cleaned my entire kitchen from top to bottom and I’m working on another project. Re-doing our master bedroom closet. I just don’t like the way it is set up. I’m hoping to have it completed tomorrow, So pictures will be up soon! =D On another note, I thought I would share a couple of new decorations around the house.

First off. You may have noticed in this post my kitchen table setup. It used to look like this. Well now it looks like this.

Those cups and saucers were in the garage sale stuff my mother in law gave to me and she bought me the flowers because she felt bad that I was having to go through all of that stuff by myself. She is soo sweet. :) Well the cups were white but I wanted them black and I knew we would never use them so I spray painted them.I love the way it looks now! :)

Also, I re-did our mantel that is on the fireplace. Here is the before. Just a bunch of random things on there, nothing really matched.

But now, I LOVE IT! I think that’s a little bit of an understatement.

I took it off the fireplace and painted it. I put it back up and then added the decorations. I definitely want to add more, but for now it works good. Want to know about a funny conversation Hubby and I had after he saw it? Here it goes.

Hubby: It makes us look rich.
Me: (laugh) yeah it is pretty classy looking. Wanna know something funny?
Hubby: What’s that?
Me: We didn’t buy one thing on that mantel.
Hubby: (laughs) seriously?
Me: Yep, the serenity prayer my mom gave us when we got our first apartment, the two candlestick holders I found in the garage sale stuff your mom gave us and the china plates are from my great aunt.
Hubby: (laughs again) wow!

I love making things look classy and not spending a dime besides on paint. =D

New spring centerpiece and some deliciousness…

So, when spring first came about I went out and bought some things for a kitchen centerpiece. It worked for the time being, but everyday I just kept thinking that I needed to change it. So, i finally did. :)
I hollowed out some eggs.

I took the flower bouquets from my other centerpiece and took them apart and put them in my pretty bowl. :)

After the eggs were dry, I painted them baby blue. We had some leftover paint from painting the boy’s room.

There was barely any, but it was enough. After they dried I put them on top of the flowers in my bowl. I love it sooooo much better now. :)

This was my first time doing something decorative without going out and spending money to decorate. I had all this stuff at my house. :) That made it even better.
This weekend I plan on trying out some delicious recipes. I plan on making Strawberry shortcake cups, I’m also going to make the Lemon pound cake instead of buying it. I found both of these recipes on Andrea’s blog. I’m also going to make sugar cookies from her blog as well. Check them out they are super cute. I don’t plan on doing the basketball design, but I want to try the recipe. I also plan on making this homemade bread, also from her blog and last minute biscuits from Heather’s blog.
I am so excited to be doing all this baking the next few days. :)

Glad that’s over with

So, ever sense I started DE cluttering my house. There has been one area in particular, that I have been avoiding to no end. Every time I think about this area during my DE cluttering, I block it from my mind. Just because it was that bad! But today, ah today I told myself “just stop thinking about it and just do it”. It took me two hours, but wow. I’m super glad I did.
I’m sure your wondering what area this might be. It’s my closet.

Pretty ridiculous huh? Well, take a look now.

I love it. It’s clean and organized, and we can actually walk into it, like were suppose too. I gave myself a nice pat on the back when I got done. :)
I got rid of a ton of stuff.

Shoes, clothes and purses.
I’m super excited I got it done. Going to garage sales tomorrow with my wonderful mother. I can’t wait. :)

A little bit of decorating

So, I’m highly annoyed right now. I found a woman’s blog who had a great idea about displaying her jewelry. And now I can’t find it! Ugh. >.< But anyways, it was such a great idea. As much as I love my jewelry box, I hated having to rummage through it, and my necklace and bracelets always get tangled up. So when I found this blog inspiration hit. I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I wanted to create a strip, the colors brown and light blue (they colors of our master bathroom) to hang my necklace’s and bracelets! I love it. Shockingly, my husband likes it too!
So I crocheted a strip with those colors and my dilemma was figuring out which wall too put it on, and i decided to put it on the opposite wall from the $2 picture I found at a garage sale. The strip I created was the perfect length, and it’s hidden, but in view at the same time if that makes sense. :) Anyways, here’s the picture.

Well, what do ya think?
I kept my earrings on my earring holder, because I only have two pairs of earrings. I stopped wearing earrings after I had Jay, because he started trying to rip them out of my ears and KJ is following suit too. So it will be awhile before I have a variety of earrings again.

And I moved my rings to a spot in my eyeshadow holder, until I can figure out what to make to put them in.

Now what to do with my jewelry box.

Knowing me, I’m sure I will think of something. But any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :)

Ah, Spring is coming

And I can’t wait…
I love spring! The flowers start blooming, the air is fresh, the birds are singing, the kids get to play outside alot which makes them extremely happy. What’s not to love about spring? After seeing a fellow blogger’s new spring setup for her table, I was inspired to set up my own. I love decorating for the seasons/holidays. So, why I haven’t already set up my spring table, I have no idea! But, I did tonight! Woo.
This is what was on it before. (this is my in between season table set up that I use, I couldn’t find a recent picture, and smart me forgot to take one, so this is from our old apartment, minus the glasses.)

And now. Here is where I need ya’lls opinions please! I went to cvs and got a few things. Sense, I had no spring decorations!

I forgot to put the toothpick holders next to it in the first picture. My problem is, I like it both ways. So, I’m leaning more towards the first one, but what do y’all think? Also I’m not sure if I want to keep the flowers in the papers or line them up around the inside of the bowl. Hmmm decision’s decision’s! I will also eventually add more fruit instead of just the apples to make it more colorful, but the apples were the only thing I had on hand right now. So there is my dilemma. I’m just not Sure about it.
I moved the candle centerpiece to my bookshelf. I like it alot better!

I made little blueberry muffin’s today, for the first time in a long time, and i burnt the bottoms, but the tops and middle were really good. sigh. I’ll get it down! Did I mention, I love the smell of blueberry muffin’s baking in the oven, the smell lingers for awhile and it’s just delicious smelling!

I thought for sure we were going to get a storm today, but it didn’t hit it us like they “predicted” it would. But the clouds sure came in like it was going to!

Oh well, today I did flashcards with the kids (numbers 1-10), I wrote the number on the front and the word on the back, and showed them both sides. KJ is too small to really understand but he was getting a kick out of it and Jay was naming almost every single one right! Yay! Sense I’m teaching them the numbers, I’m going to do a “number of the day” for numbers 1-10. Today was number 1, so I drew a 1 and wrote the word on a piece of paper, and let Jay scribble color on it, while we talked about the number 1. He got a kick out of it. Of course KJ wanted to color too, so I let him, although he kept wanting to eat the crayon! Haha.

Have you noticed I love taking pictures? Haha, sorry for the long post, but it was a good day!
