6 Delicious Dessert Recipes

Happy Tuesday friends. You may recall from this post where I talked about having time to realize what I wanted to bring to my blog. This is one of the new things I’m going to start doing. Every Tuesday I will have a different collage featuring some of my favorite things. It might be some of my favorite posts, favorite pregnancy clothes, favorite pictures, favorite beauty products, etc. I love these types of posts and I feel like it always gives me a little more insight into what the blogger really likes when I see some of their favorite things. Lets get started!

This weeks collage is brought to you by yummy desserts. I’ve had a major sweet tooth for the past month and have been pinning some yummy dessert recipes that I want to make! Here are 6 delicious dessert recipes I’ve found on pinterest!

Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper amplification for Collective Bias and its advertiser. #CollectiveBias

The cookie dough we ordered from Jay’s fundraiser came in on Friday and ever since Hubby has been practically begging me to make them. I put it off for a few days, but I couldn’t wait any longer. We have plenty of cookie dough now and I wanted to do something fun with plain ol’ sugar cookies. I created a “new” cookie that I’m calling, Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies. Clever name isn’t it? ;) Really though, you are about to find out why I had to call them fun cookies and why my boys were laughing and giggling as they munched away on them!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites #Shop #Cbias

You will need to run to your nearest Walmart and grab some:

Wonka Random Candy {These are seriously the boys #NewFavorites}
Frosting {I went with a spring/Easter colored frosting aka it’s what I actually had on hand because I forgot to buy some, oops.}
Sugar cookies {or cookie dough to make said sugar cookies, either way, you need the darn sugar cookies}

I imagine you have some of the following around your home, if not, pick this up to:
Something to sort the candy into
A butter knife {or actual frosting knife} for layering on that frosting
A plate of some kind
And a bowl

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites #Shop #Cbias

First up, dump a bag {or two} of the Wonka Random Candy into a bowl. {Well, first bake the sugar cookies if you need to}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites #Shop #Cbias

Dos, Sort all of those fun candies. I went with things I knew my boys would love. Like mustaches, animals, cars, trains, etc. Yes, they have all of that cuteness in the bag and now you know why my boys loved these cookies.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites #Shop #Cbias

Three, frost those yummy sugar cookies and begin placing your candies on the cookies however you like. I created a three little pigs cookie and then I simply had fun with the rest. Yeah, you also see a unicorn. That just rocks my socks all kinds of off.

Quarto, let your kids devour your new fun cookies.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Wonka Randoms Candy Fun Cookies #NewFavorites #Shop #Cbias

I really should have stopped there with the candy, but I just couldn’t. As we speak I have another concoction involving these candies in the freezer. I simply filled three small box shaped containers with the Wonka Randoms Candy, filled it with water, stuck tooth picks in it and popped them into the freezer. The boys can either suck the ice cubes {they like to do that} or we can put them in some water and let them melt. Yeah, that’s what I’m doing with mine! ;)

Be sure to check out these yummy flavorful moments where there are a ton of great recipes!

- After you make the Rick Krispies, use a ice cream scooper to scoop out the rice krispies & roll each scoop into a ball with your hand. I recommend coating your hands with Crisco to prevent the rice krispies from sticking to you.

- Once you have used all of the rice krispies and rolled them into cute little balls, stick the cake pop sticks in the middle of them.

- Pop them in the fridge for a couple of hours to let them cool down and harden.

Now the fun begins! ;)

#ad Tyson Popcorn Chicken Salad recipe & a movie night

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client.

You may remember me mentioning in my goals post, that I wanted to do something fun every weekend. It is something I have put my mind to and we have absolutely stuck to it! We try to do family movie night once or twice a month and I knew we didn’t have anything fun planned Saturday evening as a family, so movie night it was! I also knew exactly what type of movie night I wanted us to have, a picnic dinner and movie. So, last week I ventured to Walmart {yes, that is one of my favorite stores} and checked out the demo they had going on for Tyson Popcorn Chicken {you can view my shopping experience here}. Y’all, I tried the sample as I listened to the lady talk about how long it took to cook, fun ways you could use it, etc. After that first bite, I was 100% sold.

I quickly began wracking my brain for how I could turn this into a recipe instead of just a snack and wa-la, my dinner for movie night was born. I say my dinner, because my family isn’t big on salads, but I love them! When Saturday night finally rolled around, I was more than ready for movie night. Earlier in the day we had gone to Jay’s 1st baseball game {more on that soon} and I even squeezed in a nap! Like, I said more than ready and I was more than ready to put the recipe in my head to use! I bring you:
Tyson popcorn chicken salad and yes, it is as good as it sounds. You will need:

5. Top with ranch dressing.
6. mix all together and enjoy!

Now that you have the yummy recipe, let’s get back to our picnic movie night. We easily could have just sat on the couch and ate while we watched our movie, we have done that many times in the past during our family movie nights, but like I said I wanted to make this fun. We laid out a blanket, set all of our food on it and got comfy!

I wound up arranging the rest of the popcorn chicken on a serving tray with plenty of ranch dressing to go around. My boys seriously loved that I stuck tooth-picks in each piece that way they could easily pick it up and dip it in the ranch without making a huge mess and who am I kidding, I loved it too.

We wound up browsing Netflix for a family movie to watch and Hubby picked one called the Mouse and the motorcycle. Y’all, I will never get back that 41 minutes of my life. Worst.Movie.Ever. My kids loved it for whatever reason, I, on the other hand would have rather been watching Fast and the furious 6. Mmmm, I can never get enough of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. Speaking of them, I still haven’t seen the newest movie, sigh. I will gladly watch them in 6 when it comes out on DVD! ;)

Even though I could careless for the movie Hubby picked, we relaxed and grubbed out. It was so nice to just have some down time with my three favorite boys.
This was the first time the boys and Hubby were trying the popcorn chicken that I had already sampled and it was a hit with them too! I consider that winning. I’m already ready to go back and get another bag and come up with another recipe! Especially, since my salad was delicious and it was gone before that movie was even over! I’ll definitely be eating the leftovers after church tomorrow.

Have you had a family movie night lately? What did y’all see? Also, are you as excited as me for fast and furious 6 to hit DVD?

Seasoned Salt Pork Chops Recipe

Hey friends! Today I am sharing one of my all time favorite pork chops recipes! It is one that my husband, my kids and of course myself devour whenever I make it. I use to make this on the stove. If you don’t have a George foreman, simply use a good size pan, fill it with a little bit of cooking oil and then follow the directions bellow! I got the George foreman for my hubs for father’s day – although, I’m the one who mainly uses it. I love when that happens. ;)
Anyways, like I said this is one of our favorite recipes and I normally make it with homemade mashed potatoes and corn but, I was out of potatoes and corn so I went with french fries. Weird combo I know but, whatever it worked.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Seasoned Salt Pork Chops Recipe

You will need:
1 Package of boneless pork chops. {They can be thick or thin}
Seasoned salt
**Cooking oil if you are using a skillet!**

First, lay your pork chops out on a plate or serving tray while your George foreman {or skillet} is heating up.

Sprinkle them all over with the seasoned salt, flip them over and sprinkle the other side the same way.

Place them on your George foreman {or in the skillet} and cook for about 15 minutes or until there is no pink in the middle of the pork chops! **if you are cooking them in a skillet be sure to turn them occasionally**

Once they are done – serve with mashed potatoes and corn, or in my case for this time french fries. Either way enjoy the heck out of them because they are so good!

Cinnamon Puffs

Mmmm. We all know by now I love food right? No?
Well let me refresh your memory here, here, here & here.

Okay I think that’s enough. I have a super sweet guest post here today sharing a super yummy recipe!
Please welcome Joy!
—————————————-
I’ve never been one to cook a big breakfast. At least not for breakfast. It just feels like way to much time. Breakfast for dinner is more my thing. However, due to my husband’s job and Bear starting school this fall, breakfast is the only meal we get to eat together on a regular basis.

Because of this, I have been trying to get more creative with breakfast. I did stock up on cereal since, frankly, I don’t feel like cooking a big breakfast every morning. That being said, I am trying to cook at least a few mornings a week. My hope is that when I bake I can bake double batches and freeze some for mornings when I have less time. I thought that as my guest post I would share one of my favorite breakfast foods! My mom used to bake them all the time, and then for whatever reason stopped. AS I got a little older I started making them on a regular basis and they are still a favorite even today.

Cinnamon Puffs
½ cup shortening
½ cup sugar
1 egg
1 ½ cup flour
1 ½ teasp. baking powder
½ teasp salt
¼  teasp. nutmeg
½ cup milk
(Optional add ins: Almond extract, cinnamon, cloves)
Cream sugar and egg. Stir in dry ingredients alternately w/milk.  Put in greased muffin pans.  Bake 350 degrees 20-25 minutes
Topping:
1 ½ cup sugar
1 teasp. cinnamon
½ cup melted butter
Dip muffin in melted butter and roll in cinnamon sugar mixture.
 ** I
personally like my muffins baked till they are just cooked, becuase of
this the bottoms do not come out very brown. That being said I prefer to brush my muffins with butter rather than dip them. I find if I dip they become to saturated and start falling a part.

One of my favorite books ever talks about the characters always eating muffins on the first day of school. I always see them eating Cinnamon Puffs when I read that passage. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
———————————
Yeah.
I think I need to go make these right now.
You too.
& show her some love.

Homemade mashed potatoes

It has been a loooooooongggg time sense I have posted a recipe on here.
Now that I find myself back in the kitchen more often I decided I would start sharing some more recipes.
So, today I’m going to share with you my homemade mashed potatoes that Hubby loves!
It really doesn’t take much to make but they are yummy.

Step one. Grab 12 potatoes. They can be different sizes doesn’t really matter. They just need to be potatoes – that you peel. Capish?

Step two – Wash said potatoes.

Step three – Cut the potatoes into medium size cubes. Not large – medium or smaller. Put them in a large pot and feel the pot with water covering the top of the potatoes.

Step four – Turn the heat on high and add salt to the pot.

Step five – heat to boiling. Once they are boiling cook them for about 10 minutes longer. You should be able to stick a fork right through them. Basically be able to mash them with the fork.

Step six – Drain potatoes and place them back into the pot.

Step seven – Add 2 sticks of butter, 1 cup of milk and salt and pepper to the now drained potatoes.

Step eight – Beat on low speed until everything starts mixing nicely together and then turn it up to high until the potatoes are nice and mushy.

Step nine – Devour them!

& because I love you guys so much I created this printable. It will fit on a 4×6 card.

This post might make your mouth water

Yeah, this post is probably about to make you hungry. You see I have a love for food. The way it taste. The way it smells. The way it looks. The way it slides deliciously into my belly. Yeah, love everything about it. For awhile I was pretty excited to cook many meals and desserts a day, but then it became repetitive. The same recipes over and over and I got tired of it. Cooking became a thing of hate for me and I didn’t look forward to it one bit. As a matter of fact, my hubs has been the one doing the cooking lately {on the grill} because I didn’t want to that much.

Until. I came across this blog. By this lady – who in my eyes – is the very definition of super mom.
You may have heard of her.
The Pioneer Woman.

Are you shaking your head yes right now?
I thought so.

I have been hooked completely on her blog and specifically all the delicious recipes there.
Sense I am on the search for new recipes this works perfect for me.
We just got back from grocery shopping & let me just say I am so ready to start cooking.

I have 5 recipes on this weeks menu from her site.

Like this one.

{Found here.}

Along with the following:

Homemade chicken strips.
Garlic cheese bread.
Mini meatball sandwiches.
Sour cream noodle bake.

Yeah – your mouth is watering isn’t it?
I love this feeling – the feeling that I am ready to get back in the kitchen full force.
Hopefully my experimenting juices start flowing again and I’ll have recipes to share with you in the future.

Have a great Saturday love bugs!
