I feel like I totally failed at Christmas this year for my kids. With the twins in the NICU, I had still wanted everything to be normal at home for Jay and Kage. I made sure to put decorations up inside the house right after Thanksgiving. I made sure to bring Elfie out this year, even though I didn’t want to add one more thing to do with everything going on. I failed at moving Elfie more often than not from pure exhaustion and forgetting, but thankfully my husband started taking over moving him. I made sure to watch a few Christmas movies with the boys. We didn’t get our letters wrote to Santa this year. We didn’t put lights up outside. We threw our old tree away last year and had planned on getting a real tree this year, but things happened and getting a real tree didn’t happen. Hubby wound up picking up a small tree almost two weeks before Christmas, but guess what, the boys didn’t even care that it was a small tree, they loved it in fact because they could easily decorate the whole thing and Jay had no problem putting the star on the top. {Our Christmas last year} We didn’t go Christmas shopping until last minute, but I did make sure gifts were wrapped and under the tree Christmas eve day. I didn’t hang their stockings until Christmas eve and I totally dropped the ball on getting Jax and Kade their first stockings. I spent part of Christmas at the hospital visiting Jax. We didn’t bake a cake for Jesus on Christmas like we’ve done every year and we didn’t making Christmas cookies. We did laugh, cuddle, play with new toys, and enjoyed having a quiet Christmas day at home instead of going anywhere like we usually do. Things were very different this year vs previous years, it impacted me more than the boys. I noticed they didn’t care about the little things that I did. I noticed they loved the decorations around the house, they loved our little tree, they loved every gift they got, and they were satisfied just being at home with us on Christmas day. They reminded me what Christmas was really about during such a hectic time in our lives. I do know though, that next year will be extra special because we will have our whole family at home next Christmas. :)

Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolateThe weather here in Texas has been going from warm to freezing lately. With the weather flip flopping, I never know from one day to the next if it’s going to be warm or cold, but I’ve been sure to keep hot chocolate on hand for those cold days. Nothing quite warms you up like a delicious cup of hot chocolate. The other night I decided to make some, but I didn’t want to just make regular hot chocolate, therefore, I got a little experimental and we wound up LOVING it! We drank them so fast I’m surprised we didn’t get a belly ache! ;) lol. Since it tasted so good and was a huge hit with my boys, I wanted to share it with y’all. Here is how to make our new favorite hot chocolate.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

You will need:
– Candy cane hot chocolate
– A cup
– Red sprinkles
– A candy cane
– Whip cream

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

First, start by making your hot chocolate how you would normally make it. I know some people use milk to make their hot cocoa, but we use water. Pour the packet into the cup + add water {or milk} + stir it up.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Delicious hot chocolate

Then, take your whip cream and spray it into the cup all the way to the rim. It’s okay if it goes over a little because the whip cream that’s on the bottom right on top of the hot cocoa will start melting.

Sprinkle on your red sprinkles, add a candy cane, and you’re done! Stick a straw in it and enjoy!

What’s your go to drink when it’s cold outside?

DIY Word for the Year Jar

{This post contains affiliate links}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

If you’ve been following posts in the blog world for the past couple of years, you’ve probably seen that people are starting to throw resolutions out the window and are embracing a word for the year instead. As a matter of fact, I’ve done in the past two years and I’ve loved having a word for the year to embrace, instead of having resolutions that never happen. In 2013, my words were Live Life. I simply just wanted to embrace this life and to really live it and it was something I felt I could do, it was something I knew I could actually strive for. In 2014, my word was fearless. I didn’t conquer being fearless in all areas of my life, but I did conquer quite a few and I enjoyed getting over those fears and realizing what I was capable of. I’ll be sharing my word for 2015 in January, but until then I thought it would be fun to create this word for the year jar.

It would be great for a new years party, everyone can draw a word out of the jar and apply that word to their life in the new year. One word can have a different meaning for everyone. Or you could write down words that you like and draw one out of the jar for the new year. While choosing a word is great, I feel like it’s comfortable. You are picking a word that you’ve thought over and know you can do, but I think having a list of words to choose from and sticking to the one you pick from the jar presents a little more of a challenge. I can’t wait to share what word I wind up getting out of my jar. I loved this craft and idea so much that I decided to share with you how to make your own!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

You will need:
- A Vase
- Glue
- Gold Glitter
- A gold sharpie paint marker

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

First, I simply wrote Word For The Year on the front of the vase. You can decorate the vase further if you like, but I like the simplicity of it since I knew I would be adding glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Next, I used a glue stick and slid it around the rim of the vase twice and then sprinkled glitter all around the rim. Make sure you put something down to catch the glitter that doesn’t go into the vase and something to dump the glitter that did fall into the vase, out. After I let the glitter on top dry, I turned the vase over and tapped it all the way around to get most of the glitter out of the inside.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

I then cut up little squares of black construction paper and wrote words that I liked on each piece. A few I put in there are: Embrace, Live, Love, Explore, and Create. There was more I wrote down too, just choose words {or have your guest choose words} that inspire you. I could apply any of the ones I just listed to my life in the new year because there is always something I want to do better, more of, or embrace more.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Fold the pieces of paper up and drop them in the jar! Your jar is officially complete! Have fun letting your guests select words or having the fun challenge of choosing your own word for the year at random!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Do you choose a word for the year? If not, do you think you might start?

DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes

{This post contains affiliate links}Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

I have always loved Christmas. It has seriously always been my favorite holiday ever. After I started having kids, once they hit the age where they understood what Christmas was, watching their eyes light up in amazement and wonder, and being able to create fun Christmas memories with them, it became ever more wonderful! We love doing crafts in this house and we did our fair share of fun ones last year! With the chaos of life lately, I’m making sure my kids still feel the magic and fun of Christmas. I brought Elfie back this year and we’ve started Christmas crafts again. The boys and I had so much fun making these kid friendly snowflakes, I think we need to make a bunch more to put in random spots around the house!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

For these DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes, you will need:

Popsicle sticks. {$1 store for the win}
– Hot glue gun & glue sticks.
– An assortment of candy.
Glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

First, grab four Popsicle sticks and use the hot glue gun to glue them together as shown in the pictures above. I made three, one for each of us. :)

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Second, put glue on one part of the stick, sprinkle glitter of choice, and repeat until the snowflake is covered in glitter. Do these for each snowflake. I chose blue glitter, Jay chose green glitter, and Kage chose gold glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Third, let your kids pick out candies to add to their snowflake and glue them on! Don’t forget to pick out some for yourself! ;)

That’s it! Easy peasy! Since the boys each put a candy cane on their snowflakes, they hung them on these little hooks I have on the backdoor and I set mine on the mantel! You could easily glue a candy cane to the back of your snowflake to use as a way to hang it or string or you can prop it up somewhere. This was seriously so easy to do and it made my kids happy and they are so proud of their snowflakes! I have to admit, it was fun for me too! :)

10 Things I’m Thankful For

I absolutely love thanksgiving. Not only is there yummy food involved, but it’s a time for us to reflect on all we are thankful for. I decided to share ten things I’m thankful for this year.

1. I am thankful for a God who loves me and who understands me. For a God who knows all of me and loves me despite my flaws.

10thingsImthankfulfor1_zps27f9201e

2. My husband. I am so thankful to be going through this life with him. He has always been my rock, my comfort zone, my everything. I would be lost without him. I love him so much and I thank God for bringing him into my life.

10thingsImthankfulfor4_zpsf4415460

3. My kids. They are the light in my world. They bring me so much happiness and joy. I became a mom at 19 and I knew even then that I was supposed to be a mom. I have my bad moments with parenting and I get frustrated with my kids, but I love them more than anything.

10thingsImthankfulfor3_zpsc1df55bd

4. I’m so thankful the twins are doing well. I was so worried they would have a lot of complications, but they don’t and I’m so beyond thankful for that. I could never picture my life as a twin mom and now that they are here, I can’t picture my life without them.

5. Our home. So many people don’t have a home unfortunately, they don’t have a place they can always go to get warm or spend with family. It makes me realize how lucky we are to have a home.

6. Family. I have a pretty great family, including in-laws. I’m thankful to have a huge family who I love and who loves me. Family get togethers are always a great time with such a big family! :)

7. Friends. I don’t have a bunch of friends, I tend not to trust people so my group of friends is small and trustworthy. I am so thankful for them though, for always having someone to turn to who just gets me and being able to be there for them in the way they need because I get them too.

8. I’m thankful for a “messy” home. I don’t mean messy in the sense of trash laying everywhere or dishes staked in the sink. I mean messy as in clothes laying on the floor 2 feet from the hamper {it drives me crazy lol} or not being able to go in any room in our house without finding some sort of toy. Having a “messy” home makes me happy {most days} because that means my kids are here and alive to scatter their toys around the house.

9. I’m thankful for life. I thank God for every morning I wake up and have another day to spend with my family.

10. I’m thankful for blogging and the friendships I’ve made. This is my space to dump my thoughts, to make a little extra money, to connect with other women. It’s a fun, amazing thing!

What are you thankful for this year?

I wasn’t allowed to take the boys Trick or Treating this year, it was the first year I missed it, but they still had a blast with Hubby, my mom, and my step-dad. :) They also looked freaking awesome in their Halloween costumes!

How was your Halloween? What was your little one{s} dressed as?!
