Young Living Essential oil: Peppermint

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Young Living Essential oil: Peppermint

A couple of weeks ago I started my young living essential oil series. You can see six of my favorite oils here and you can see the oil I shared on December 3rd, which was Joy. Today, I’m going to share another absolute favorite! Peppermint. I seriously love the heck out of peppermint oil. I mainly use peppermint for headaches. I apply one drop to each side of my temple and one drop on the back of my neck, it works wonders! I’ve also stared using it on Kade for his reflux and he’s not doing it as much now, yay! I dilute it alot with olive oil and put one drop peppermint oil in a bowl with olive oil, mix it up, then i apply one drop to the bottom of each of his feet.

A few other things it can be used for:

Headaches
Itching
Breech babies
Lactation decrease
Constipation
Energy increase
Nausea

Peppermint is seriously my best friend. I get headaches pretty often so I make sure to carry peppermint with me wherever I go. I highly recommend peppermint oil and I think you will love it if you get it. It’s truly helped me and I’m making sure I never run out of it! :)

If you would like to order oils for yourself, you can do so through my link! :)

DIY Word for the Year Jar

{This post contains affiliate links}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

If you’ve been following posts in the blog world for the past couple of years, you’ve probably seen that people are starting to throw resolutions out the window and are embracing a word for the year instead. As a matter of fact, I’ve done in the past two years and I’ve loved having a word for the year to embrace, instead of having resolutions that never happen. In 2013, my words were Live Life. I simply just wanted to embrace this life and to really live it and it was something I felt I could do, it was something I knew I could actually strive for. In 2014, my word was fearless. I didn’t conquer being fearless in all areas of my life, but I did conquer quite a few and I enjoyed getting over those fears and realizing what I was capable of. I’ll be sharing my word for 2015 in January, but until then I thought it would be fun to create this word for the year jar.

It would be great for a new years party, everyone can draw a word out of the jar and apply that word to their life in the new year. One word can have a different meaning for everyone. Or you could write down words that you like and draw one out of the jar for the new year. While choosing a word is great, I feel like it’s comfortable. You are picking a word that you’ve thought over and know you can do, but I think having a list of words to choose from and sticking to the one you pick from the jar presents a little more of a challenge. I can’t wait to share what word I wind up getting out of my jar. I loved this craft and idea so much that I decided to share with you how to make your own!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

You will need:
- A Vase
- Glue
- Gold Glitter
- A gold sharpie paint marker

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

First, I simply wrote Word For The Year on the front of the vase. You can decorate the vase further if you like, but I like the simplicity of it since I knew I would be adding glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Next, I used a glue stick and slid it around the rim of the vase twice and then sprinkled glitter all around the rim. Make sure you put something down to catch the glitter that doesn’t go into the vase and something to dump the glitter that did fall into the vase, out. After I let the glitter on top dry, I turned the vase over and tapped it all the way around to get most of the glitter out of the inside.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

I then cut up little squares of black construction paper and wrote words that I liked on each piece. A few I put in there are: Embrace, Live, Love, Explore, and Create. There was more I wrote down too, just choose words {or have your guest choose words} that inspire you. I could apply any of the ones I just listed to my life in the new year because there is always something I want to do better, more of, or embrace more.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Word for the Year Jar

Fold the pieces of paper up and drop them in the jar! Your jar is officially complete! Have fun letting your guests select words or having the fun challenge of choosing your own word for the year at random!

Do you choose a word for the year? If not, do you think you might start?

November Glossybox

{This post contains my referral link & affiliate links}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

My November Glossybox didn’t get here until a couple of weeks ago, but I am so happy with what’s inside of it. There is some really great products in here that I’m excited to try! I haven’t shared any glossyboxes since July, I’m total slacker, but I’m going to get better about that. I really love sharing what I get in these boxes! Let’s see what all I got for November!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

1. OPI Nail Lacquer. It’s called Pink Outside the Glossybox. I can’t say I really like the color, I’m not a big fan of super light nail colors, but it could be fun to use when I’m doing a design on my nail with a bolder color.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

2. Juice Beauty – Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer. My face has been really, really dry lately so I’m excited to try this moisturizer out. I also happen to love anything green apple!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

3. So Susan – Universal Blush. I actually really like this color. I don’t plan on using it as blush because I don’t wear blush, but I think it will make a really pretty eyeshadow.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

4. 12 Benefits. Not only has my face been dry, but my hair has been crazy dry. I haven’t been taking very good care of it lately, I honestly just don’t have the time to right now, but you better believe I will be putting this in my hair daily.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // November Glossybox #beauty #glossybox

5. Herbal Bath – Balancing Lavender. I absolutely love lavender. I use my lavender essential oils to relax my muscles and to help me sleep when I’m having a really hard time falling asleep. So, it should come as no surprise that I’m excited to try this out in the bathtub before bedtime. I could use a nice, relaxing soak in the tub.

What would you be most excited to try out of this box?

Coming home without Jax

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Coming home without Jax

Tuesday I shared how we brought Kade home from the hospital over the weekend. It truly has been amazing having him home and I have a hard time putting him down because for five weeks there were so many times I couldn’t hold him. As you know, we had to come home without Jax. When I first left the hospital without either of my babies, it was one of the hardest things I have ever experienced in my life. The pain of leaving your baby or in my case, babies, in the nicu, is a pain I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I would never want anyone to experience what that is like because it damages you in a way you can’t quite put into words. I never imagined that anything would be harder or hurt worse than leaving them both there, but I was so very wrong.

While I am beyond thrilled to have Kade home and I wouldn’t change it for the world, coming home with one of my babies and not the other is breaking me. I had hoped I would be too busy, too sleep-deprived, too anything, to be able to focus on how upset I am about having one of my babies home and not the other, but that’s not the case. I am very much too tired; I feel like I’m running in a race and can’t stop to catch my breath, I’m very much busy; between having a baby home and everything that comes with having a baby home, my older two boys, cleaning, laundry, school, and still trying to find time to get up to the hospital to see Jax, you would think I wouldn’t have time to be that upset or to be able to focus on how upset I am. Most of the day, I am too busy to think about it, to let myself go to that place that hurts, but random times throughout the day the pain of not having Jax home hits me.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Coming home without Jax

I have started crying in the middle of folding laundry. I had to fight back tears while playing with Kade yesterday because while I was soaking in that beautiful moment with Kade, Jay, and Kage, I was aching to be able to do the same with Jax. I cried listening to I’m already there by Lonestar on the way home from seeing Jax the other day. I’ve fought back tears making bottles because, as odd as it sounds, I want to be making double what I am, but I’m not because I only have one baby here right now. The crying doesn’t last very long, but it rips through me randomly as you can see and I’ve just accepted it. I’ve accepted the pain in my heart is going to be there until I have both my babies home with me, until I can cuddle, kiss, and hold them both whenever I want to. Until I’m even more sleep-deprived than I already am and until I’m even more busy than I already am. I know that the random tears are going to happen until Jax comes home to be with us too.

We were so close to having him home. He had gone eight days without dropping his heart rate, he is eating all his bottles, and gaining weight and earlier this week they talked about having him come home in a day or two, he even passed his car seat test, but on that 8th day, he dropped his heart rate again and has dropped it every day since. It’s breaking my heart. He was so close to coming home, we were so close to having him here, I got my hopes up, and then watched as they all crashed down because he has to stay longer and now we don’t know when he will be coming home. We don’t know if he will be home for Christmas like we had hoped. I’ll be talking to the doctor today to see what he plans to do to find out why Jax is dropping his heart rate again and I can only pray it’s nothing major.

After 5 long weeks…

I know I keep popping in and out of blogging and social media. Things keep happening that are taking me by surprise so everything else has been getting put on the back burner. Things like getting a phone call on Thursday from the doctor telling me to bring Kade’s car seat up to the hospital to do his car seat test. That wasn’t what shocked me though, what shocked me was the doctor saying, “If he passes his test, you can room in tomorrow, and he will more than likely go home on Saturday.” We knew Kade was doing really well and would probably be coming home soon, we just didn’t realize it would be that soon. I began frantically cleaning the house and finishing up the nursery. Afterwards, I headed up to the hospital with car seat in hand. I was excited, but trying really hard not to get my hopes up and trying not to think about the face that Jax wouldn’t be coming home with him if he passed his test.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // After 5 long weeks...

Well, I called later that night after the car seat test was complete and found out that he passed. I squealed and thanked the nurse for letting me know. I told her I would be up there tomorrow afternoon to room in. As soon as I hit the end button on the phone, the tears just started falling. One of my babies was coming home and one wasn’t. I was so beyond happy and so beyond sad at the same time. That’s a post for another day though. The next day, I was a bundle of excitement. I packed my bag for the hospital, I packed the boys bags to stay the night at my moms, and I packed Kade’s coming home outfit. I just couldn’t believe this was really happening. I got to the hospital around 4pm. I said hi to my babies, set my stuff down in the room Kade and I would be staying in, and began watching the CPR dvd. That was one stipulation to them coming home, we had to learn CPR. Afterwards, I was talking to my favorite nurse as she explained some things to me about rooming in. Then, I watched her unhook Kade from the monitors that he has been on since he has been born. My heart fluttered. He hasn’t had any problems with his heart rate dropping since a few days after he was born, but still, you get used to those monitors, and seeing it with little x’s where his oxygen and heart rate normally were, freaked me out a bit. I took a deep breath and willed my heart to calm down, he was fine and he was going to continue to be fine I told myself.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // After 5 long weeks...

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // After 5 long weeks...

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // After 5 long weeks...

We walked down the hall, into the room, and then it was just him and I. I was finally getting one of my babies all to myself. It was amazing. I got to hold him as much as I wanted, talk to him whenever, and just stare at him. The room had a huge bed that Kade and I spent most of our rooming in time on. I laid him down and stared at his sweet face. When he was awake I was talking to him and watching his every facial expression. When he would fall asleep, I curled him into my side and alternated between watching tv and staring at him. The night went wonderful. He woke up every three hours to eat and he did great each time. Even through my tiredness, I was beyond happy. The next morning, after the doctor came in, he cleared us to leave, and Kade was discharged from the hospital.

His first day home was wonderful. We were all so happy to have him home. The boys were totally smitten with their baby brother and Hubby and I couldn’t steal enough baby kisses. I kept telling Hubby, “I can’t believe he’s home.” We waited five weeks for this moment and it was amazing. Both sets of grandparents came to visit him, along with Hubby’s aunt. Aside from our few visitors, we have just been enjoying our time with him home in between going to the hospital to see Jax.

DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes

{This post contains affiliate links}

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

I have always loved Christmas. It has seriously always been my favorite holiday ever. After I started having kids, once they hit the age where they understood what Christmas was, watching their eyes light up in amazement and wonder, and being able to create fun Christmas memories with them, it became ever more wonderful! We love doing crafts in this house and we did our fair share of fun ones last year! With the chaos of life lately, I’m making sure my kids still feel the magic and fun of Christmas. I brought Elfie back this year and we’ve started Christmas crafts again. The boys and I had so much fun making these kid friendly snowflakes, I think we need to make a bunch more to put in random spots around the house!

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

For these DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes, you will need:

- Popsicle sticks. {$1 store for the win}
- Hot glue gun & glue sticks.
- An assortment of candy.
- Glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

First, grab four Popsicle sticks and use the hot glue gun to glue them together as shown in the pictures above. I made three, one for each of us. :)

Second, put glue on one part of the stick, sprinkle glitter of choice, and repeat until the snowflake is covered in glitter. Do these for each snowflake. I chose blue glitter, Jay chose green glitter, and Kage chose gold glitter.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // DIY Kid Friendly Snowflakes #kidcrafts #kidchristmascrafts #diysnowflakes #christmascrafts

Third, let your kids pick out candies to add to their snowflake and glue them on! Don’t forget to pick out some for yourself! ;)

That’s it! Easy peasy! Since the boys each put a candy cane on their snowflakes, they hung them on these little hooks I have on the backdoor and I set mine on the mantel! You could easily glue a candy cane to the back of your snowflake to use as a way to hang it or string or you can prop it up somewhere. This was seriously so easy to do and it made my kids happy and they are so proud of their snowflakes! I have to admit, it was fun for me too! :)

Young Living Essential Oil: Joy

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Young Living Essential Oil: Joy

Last week, I shared my six favorite oils and I mentioned that I would be doing an oils series to share what I use each oil for and share a few other ways they can be used! This week starts that series and up first is Joy! I personally use Joy to help with my anxiety and to lift my mood up. I try not to skip putting it on first thing in the morning, but I can tell when I don’t because my anxiety is high and my mood isn’t exactly the best. With everything going on in life lately, my mood can shift and I become upset easily so using Joy has been really helpful for me.

Live.Laugh.L0ve. // Young Living Essential Oil: Joy

A few other things it can be used for:

Bonding with your baby after birth.
Postpartum depression.
Massages.
Period cramps.
Uplifting the mood.
Blood pressure.
Mood swings.
and so much more!

Joy really is a great oil to have around when you need a mood boost or if you suffer with anxiety or depression because it helps to calm you down and lift your mood. Before I started using the oils, I was really stubborn and refused to take medicine for my anxiety. I decided to just deal with it and there were days that it was unbearable. There were days I was on my knees, on the floor, crying and begging God to make the anxiety stop, to make the anxiety attack go away. Sometimes it did and sometimes it didn’t, sometimes I had to calm myself down which took quite sometime. I hate having anxiety and I hate the attacks that come with it when it’s really bad, but I can honestly say when I have Joy on, my anxiety isn’t that bad, and when I feel it rising, I apply more to my wrists and inhale it. Joy is now something I refuse to run out of!

Do you suffer from Anxiety? Do you currently take anything or do anything that helps it?

Happy 5th Birthday Kage!

Happy Birthday sweet boy! We celebrated your birthday last weekend since your birthday was the day after thanksgiving, and during your party, you were surrounded by people who love you. You have been a bright light in my world since the day you were born. You are outgoing and creative, sweet and stubborn, and most of all loving. I just wanted to take a moment and tell you how much I love you sweet boy!
